Greener Homes Halton Hills Initiative

As part of the Town of Halton Hills’ Strategic Plan and its commitment to environmental sustainability, mitigating and adapting to the effects of climate change, the Town is partnering with Windfall Ecology Centre to deliver the new Greener Homes Halton Hills initiative.

This free program helps residents make informed decisions to improve home comfort, increase energy efficiency, reduce environmental impact, and lower energy bills.

What Residents Receive

Halton Hills residents can access:

• Free, impartial home energy coaching services by phone or video.
• Free access to the Virtual Home Energy Assessment Tool (vHEAT).

What the Program Includes

1. Virtual Home Energy Assessment Tool (vHEAT)

A customizable online tool that helps residents:

• Estimate household energy use.
• Identify retrofit upgrades that offer the greatest energy savings.
• Explore opportunities to reduce energy bills.

2. One-on-One Support from a Professional Energy Coach

Residents may receive up to 4 hours of personalized support from a qualified professional, including Registered Energy Coach, Certified Energy Manager, and/or Professional Engineer.

Your Energy Coach can:

• Help you use and interpret results from the online tool.
• Identify improvements that provide the best return on investment.
• Recommend low- and no-cost actions to reduce energy bills.
• Guide you through available rebate programs.
• Advice on what to look for when hiring a contractor.
• Help you understand and compare contractor quotes.
• Discuss available financing options.
• Answer questions about retrofit technologies and equipment.
• Provide unbiased advice, as Energy Coaches are not affiliated with contractors, lenders, or specific companies.

Who Is Eligible?

The initiative is available to residents of low-rise homes within the Town of Halton Hills, including:

• Detached homes
• Semi-detached homes
• Townhouses
• Multi-unit residential buildings up to three storeys

Residents living in larger residential buildings can still receive guidance on reducing energy use.
